Experimental/ Recorded Grade

A mix of breeds or goats appearing as a certain breed but with untraceable ancestry, Recorded Grade and Experimental goats can be a great asset in a milking herd, and can be registered and shown as well. Many breeders favor these goats for a variety of reasons.  Most notably, selective breeding for specific traits or breeding for the elimination of identified weaknesses can yield a hardy, high-producing goat. “Snoobians” (Saanen/Nubian) crosses can be appreciated for a combination of the Saanen’s milk production and the Nubian’s higher butterfat content. Nigerian Dwarfs have been crossed with the larger breeds to aim for miniature versions of the larger dairy goat breeds.
